ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING

The 17th AGM of the Port Mandurah Residents’ Association was held on 2nd February 2012 at E2C. It was attended by 28 members, which doesn’t sound so many, but considering the wild weather we had that evening (courtesy of ex tropical cyclone Iggy) we were lucky to achieve a quorum!

Annual Report by Selby Munsie

What have we been doing?

·         Navigation lights on bridges.

·         Request recently submitted to the Department of Transport (DoT) for lights in the Leisure Way Canal entrance.

·         Short-term rentals with regard to noisy tenants and anti-social behaviour.

·         Silt barriers for Henry Sutton Grove. A feasibility study will take place once the current sand bypass study has been completed.

·         Dredging of the Fairbridge Bank. We are well aware that it was not taken into the entrance of Sovereign Gardens/Cambria Island. We are still pushing for the purchase of a dredge jointly owned by Mandurah, Murray and Waroona local governments.

·         Request recently submitted to DoT for a copy of the statistics arising from the jetty inspections in Port Mandurah.

·         Request to DoT for a more rigorous inspection over Christmas re. navigation lights, speeding and non-registered skippers in hired boats.

·         New estuary bridge; we need detail before it is a “fait accompli”. So far no information, but we will keep the pressure on.

PMRA is currently negotiating on your behalf about the Specified Area Rate (SAR) that you pay to the City of Mandurah for the upkeep of the waterways, regarding how it is managed and spent. We are also campaigning for the abolition of jetty license fees.
